"Awe....... My Dear Friend"

By: Eileen M. Glatzel

Awe ... My Dear Friend,
If only you could of seen where I have been.
Then maybe you wouldn't stare so hard,
Because my life hasn't been a Hallmark card.
through the years of my life,
There has been so much strife.
Now as I become of middle age,
I can feel the turning of the page.
Into the dawning of a new light,
I no longer have to fear the night.
I thought of you often through the years,
And with those thoughts came tears.
Wondering where and who you are,
As I wish upon a star.
Do you remember the lightening bugs,
And how we gave each other so many hugs.
Awe ... My Dear Friend,
If only I could of seen where you've been.
Then maybe I wouldn't stare so hard,
Because your life hasn't been a Hallmark card.
through the years of your life,
I am sure there has been just as much strife.
Now as you become of middle age,
Can you feel the turning of the page.
Into the dawning of a new light,
You will no longer have to fear the night.
Did you think of me often through the years,
And with those thoughts were there tears.
Wondering where and who I be,
Did you wish you could see.
I remember the lightening bugs,
And how we gave each other so many hugs.
Awe ... My Dear Friend,
If only we could of seen where we've been.
Then maybe we wouldn't have to stare so hard,
Because our lives haven't been a Hallmark card.
through the years of our lives,
We felt the cutting of those knives.
The scars that remain,
Tell the story of our pain.
Now as we become of middle age,
We can feel the turning of the page.
Into the dawning of a new light,
We no longer have to fear the night.
Did we think we'd make it through the years,
And with time did we add more tears?
Wondering what and who we could be,
We open our eyes in time to see.
I pray we never forget the lightening bugs,
And how we gave each other so many hugs.
Awe ... My Dear Friend,
Who I will always Love until the end.
