"Ice"

Leaves slid across the path with no direction
making swirls, gaining and losing speed and altitude
My thoughts an emotional roller coaster.
I just hit a big dip, you know that feeling
Now internalize,
no longer is that feeling in your stomach
It now dominates body mind and spirit
I started kicking a piece of ice
With every skid it took, the smaller it became
My life is frozen, fixed in place, rules beset by a higher power.
I kid myself to think I'm in control sometimes
Eventually there was no ice left
We all amount to zero
Who is kicking me
